LP 3 Reflections and Resources

These are the Reflections and Resources used for each Module.

Module 8

Reflection on 8: Objects use a great deal of combinations of what we have already played with, I mean learned! This gave a great time for more practice working with variables, if/else statements and, of course, document writing! I helped another classmate with her's after she became stuck on the codes. I know how frustrating this type of thing can be and will look harder at online resources for debugging script. There simply don't seem to be a lot of free one's available at this time.

Resources Used: The PPT, the book, and W3 School Navigator Objects were used for this Module.

Module 9

Reflection on 9: Document Objects simply added more ways to use objects. I found them to be very easy to use and could have created far more then the assignment called for. I am just a bit confused on the open() /close() method. I can see how it opens a new page but I guess I thought it would also have a way to close the new page and take you back to the original page. Not so. I will look into that more.

Resources Used: The PPT and the book so far.

Module 10

Reflection on 10: The more I work with JavaScript, the easier it seems to become. This module did not require too much effort once I got past my own motivational issues. Going on vacation will do that to me, makes me want to keep going sometimes. It is fun to know how to open a new window with a specified size. Now I will research and try the X and Y attributes!

Resources Used: Believe it or not, just the PPT and the book!

Module 11

Reflections on 11: Again, the more I work with JavaScript, teh easier it seems to be. Arrays were a piece of cake! I know I could have done much more with this but you do know I can do it so why over burden you now. I'll pour it on with the final project!

Resources Used: Believe it or not again, just the PPT and the book!

Module 12

Reflections on 12: Writing dates and times using the status bar can be a good thing but beware of Netscape and it's clones, it does not show up there! ANd for some reason unknown to me, I also can't get it to show up on the actual page. It keeps accusing me of not defining the hour. I say be that way then!

Resources Used: I used the PPT, the book and W3 Schools Date Objects.

Module 13

Reflections on 13: Handling Strings can add nice appeal to pages but in some of the instances I feel using plain HTML would save more time. To use JS to bold text seems to time consuming. The concat feature is nice for combining strings without having to use tons of plus signs.

Resources Used: I used the PPT and the book. I seem to be understanding this more and more.

Module 14

Reflections on 14: What can I say, a complete piece of cake! The only problem I ran into was trying to make the navigation open a new page. I tried the _blank but it didn't work. Looks like a job for super researcher!

Resources Used: I used the PPT and the book. At this rate, I may be able to get a job doing this someday!

Module 15

Reflections on 15: Frames are a pain in the behind. I would much rather work with tables then frames any day of the week and can truly see that happening in the real world. I didn't like them in Dreamweaver, I didn't like them in FrontPage and I still don't like them now.

Resources Used: I used the PPT and the book.
