Defining New Trends: The New Horizon for Web Developers
To new Web Developers, designs began a long, long time ago in a galaxy far far away. However, since the development of simple coding, simply programming and 1 "true" operating system, we have progressed from the stages of a little dog that could run back and forth across the screen to live video feeds of current events around the world. So how do developers keep up with the new and exciting trends? First, we need to define "new" and then attempt to determine what will be used in the future and what will be left at the wayside.
So What is New and What is Not?
New could be defined as anything developed over the last 2 years. That definition also depends on who you ask. Ask an instructor at a local technical college and they may tell you anything released in the last year or two. Ask a paid Web Developer and they could tell you anything released in the last 6 months. Ask someone who has been writing the scripts and they could tell you new means any never version ever released.
So You're Covering Everything New?
Not by a long shot! Again new is defined by who you talk to. While we cover an array of subject we are only at the base of the iceberg. CSS, XML, XHTML, DHTML, Java and Flash all have new aspects that we won't be going into. But as a Designer, you should try your best to keep up with current trends. Subscribe to newsletters and read them. Sign up for new classes at your local technical college. Keep abreast to what is happening in your field. That the best way to obtain employment with the companies that pay "The Big Bucks"!
